Choose shrubs and ground covers instead of turf for steep slopes and isolated areas that are hard to water.

Spreading a layer of organic mulch around plants retains moisture, saves water, time and money.  This also minimizes weed growth that competes for water.

Walkways and patios never need watering, these useful areas can also add value to your property.

Aerate your lawn at least once per year so water can reach the roots rather than simply running of the surface.

Fertilizing

A healthy lawn depends on many factors sunlight, water, nutrients and essential elements.  Applying fertilizer ensures optimal nutrients and essential elements are in the soil for the grass-roots to absorb promoting lawn growth.  The late summer / early fall application consists of a balanced time released fertilizer and broadleaf weed control.  The fertilizer will strengthen root development which is vital to help the lawn recover from the stress of the hot summer months.  The broadleaf weed control eliminates unsightly weeds from your lawn.  Call us today for a free estimate.

Avoid watering your lawn in the evening, leaf surface can remain wet overnight which is an open invitation for fungal diseases.  Watering during midday results in water loss due to evaporation.  The best time to water is between 5:00 am and 10:00 am.

As a general rule, water your lawn 1″ twice per week.  A good soaking twice a week is better than watering everyday.  Allowing the soil to dry between watering permits the roots to grow to greater depths and helps make the turf more drought tolerant.
